Property Tax Appeals in Norwalk Connecticut

It is now a new year. Property owners should have received notification of a new assessment if your town’s revaluation is scheduled for the list of 10/01/2017. If it is not a revaluation year for the town in which your property lies, that does not mean you cannot appeal. It does mean that the tax relief you may gain through an appeal will have somewhat less of a tax saving.
The appeal process is statutory. There are time periods within which
one must take an appeal. If you are outside those times periods, you have waived your right of appeal for that year. Therefore it is important that you contact an attorney familiar with the tax appeal process, who has filed appeals, appeared before the local board of assessment appeal or who has appeared in a tax appeal filed in the Superior Court.
Attorney Sumberg has been appointed by the City of Norwalk twice to represent the Tax Assessor in defending both commercial and residential tax appeals. He continues to prosecute tax appeals as a lawyer in private practice.
It is important that the taxpayer receive proper advice concerning the advisability of taking a tax appeal. Attorney Sumberg has performed a cost-benefit analysis many times to inform the client whether the benefits which can be gained through appeal will not be spent in the appeal process.
